It's important to us that we reach as many of our customers who have additional needs, so we have changed the legal basis on how we collect and store this information.
The water industry has made the decision to move from collecting and storing customer data from customer explicit consent to substantial public interest (SPI).
SPI is where we can hold and use data because it is in our interest to have this knowledge of the customer for their safety and so we can support them.
Previously we would need to speak to the customer directly to add them to the Priority Services Register and they had to give us permission to use their personal data for additional services. We can now take this information from friends, family or carers to register customers if they need it.
We have updated the online form on our website and our downloadable resources to reflect this. If you have any old paper forms please continue to use these until you need new copies - these will be available from April 2021
