CCW Affordability Review

CCW have published their Affordability Review on behalf of Defra and Welsh Government. The report sets out a plan to lift 1.5 million households out of water poverty – and broaden the support for others at risk of falling into crisis.

This included 10 key recommendations with a number of sub-recommendations. You can read the full report.

The great news is there are lots of recommendations we already do and we’re investigating any quick wins from this. We have already produced a new online renewal form for WaterSure customers to enable them to self-serve each year.

Twelve industry pilots have been launched to evaluate some of the recommendations (eg, more frequent billing and a single social tariff). We have conducted one of the pilots which examines that ‘all water companies should operate a simple application process that covers all support schemes’. The research has been carried out by Blue Marble and the result will be released on 16 March. We will produce the report and publish this on PartnerHub when it’s available.

We are awaiting the results of the other pilots before we can progress on some recommendations.

Look out for future PartnerHub post articles where we will keep you updated on changes we make as a result of the review.
