WaterSure - DWP auto-enrolling

We know that managing household bills can be challenging, especially for families and individuals with higher water usage due to specific needs. That's why WaterSure remains one of our most important support schemes, helping eligible customers on a water meter by capping their bills.

Who can apply?

To qualify for WaterSure, a customer must:

  • be on one of the main means-tested benefits or tax credits
  • either receive Child Benefit for three or more children under 19 living at home
  • or have someone in the household who uses more water due to a medical condition.

How it works

WaterSure caps a customer's bill to match the average metered bill. If they use less water, they will only pay for what they use. Previously, customers needed to re-apply each year - but we've got exciting news.

New partnership with DWP

We've teamed up with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to proactively identify eligible customers. This means:

  • Automatic enrolment for those who qualify under the family element of the scheme.
  • No need to manually reapply annually as we can now automatically do this.
  • Reaching more customers who may not know they're eligible.

This partnership is helping us remove barriers and make support more accessible - reducing customer effort and ensuring help gets to those who need it most.
